Interview: Thomas Dolby Part 1

The endless innovator

Thomas Dolby had always been on our bucket list as an interview subject, and thanks to an update to his website, we had an easier way to contact him. Thomas’ assistant Kay was very accommodating and suddenly we had a date in the diary.

We decided to take a future focus with the interview - Thomas has been heavily interviewed on his 1980s period. What’s less documented is his work as an educator and innovator. That said there’s still some great anecdotes about The Wall Live with Roger Waters, his work with David Bowie and his approach to touring. On top of that, we jumped into some discussion about educating music students and did some prognosticating on the impact of AI on music and creativity.
